What to know
Preventive visits focus on health history, blood pressure, weight, lifestyle, mental well-being, vaccines, and evidence-based screening. Recommendations vary by age, sex, pregnancy status, family history, and personal risk.
An annual physical and a Medicare Annual Wellness Visit are not identical. Our office can help determine which visit is appropriate.
Steps that may help
- Bring an updated medication list and family history.
- Ask which cancer screenings and vaccines apply to you.
- Discuss tobacco, alcohol, sleep, nutrition, activity, falls, mood, and safety concerns honestly.
- Follow up on abnormal results rather than assuming no news means everything is normal.
When to contact our office
Request a preventive visit if you are due for an annual exam, Medicare wellness visit, vaccines, or screening tests.
When to seek emergency care
Preventive concerns are rarely emergencies. Call 911 for life-threatening symptoms.
